East End Events - August 13, 2019
Our communities would like to extend their condolences to Randy and Fran Larrew and family on the loss of their son, Monty Larrew, this past week.
Last Tuesday, Susan Greenfield and Jeanie Smith and son Colton went to Garden City to do some school shopping.
Wednesday, the six Plainview summer reading students and their sponsors went to Lamar swimming to celebrate the end of the summer session.
Thursday, Susan Greenfield traveled to Cheyenne Wells to visit and have lunch with Cora Coffman.
My sister, Jerene, and I went to Garden City last Wednesday to do some shopping and then on to Dodge City for a little fun. It was a good day!!
Monte and Linda Stum went to Denver with their daughter, Kami Janes, and family over the weekend. Chris Janes attended a conference, and the rest of the family did fun things.
Katarina Fenr's sister and family had their mobile home, which was located several miles south of Plainview School, destroyed in the bad storm we received Wednesday evening. The oldest daughter was seriously hurt but she is doing better now. Thankfully none of the rest of the family had any serious injuries. The Towner area was hard hit with hail that broke windows in homes and cars that same evening. Not much left of any gardens or flowers.
Saturday evening, Vern and Joann Harris went to Granada to help Brecken Thrall celebrate her second birthday. Brecken is the daughter of Tyler and Megan Thrall. Lots of other family and friends attended the celebration. Happy birthday, Brecken.
Merle and Carol Shalberg attended the rodeo at the Sand and Sage Fair in Lamar Saturday evening. The big rain just before the rodeo made for some interesting events due to the muddy arena. Sunday, Merle and Carol hosted a birthday dinner for their son Steve. Guests were Greg and Penni Shalberg and boys and Bill and Charlotte Woelk. Happy Birthday Steve!
Around 200 family and friends gathered at Splitter Farms Saturday morning to attend the outdoor wedding of Alyssa Splitter of Sheridan Lake and Eli Jones of Wiley. A reception followed in the large Quonset that was beautifully decorated. Congratulations, Alyssa and Eli, and best wishes for your future.
School will start next Monday, August 19. August 29 will be the date for "Back to School Night." More details on it next week.
