East End Events - August 6, 2019
I would like to wish my daughter-in-law, Laurie, who lives in New Jersey, a very happy birthday today!!
Susan Greenfield's brother, Jon, and wife, Sonya, of Sterling came to visit her for a couple of days last week. They enjoyed swimming in Lamar and having lunch out Thursday.
Larry and Judy Tuttle enjoyed the fair at Tribune, Kansas, Friday and Saturday. Larry and Judy, Burl and Cathy Scherler, and Ernie and Connie Lambright met Larry and Barb Gitchel in Burlington Saturday evening for supper to celebrate all their past and current birthdays and anniversaries. Larry and Barb were on their way to San Antonio, Texas, to visit Larry's brother.
Larry and Judy Tuttle treated Danny and Rachel Specht to lunch Sunday in Lamar as a thank you for the mowing Danny had done for them.
Monte and Linda Stum attended the vacation Bible school program in Ordway Thursday evening to watch their grandchildren. They went on to Denver Friday to pick up some parts for the store before returning home.
Kelvin, Amy and Alex Schmidt; Bryan, Dorcas and Abby Berggren and Tim Harris enjoyed a week of camping and rafting at Taylor Park this past week.
Cheri Hopkins took in the Greeley County Fair and watched her grandchildren compete and enjoyed visiting with friends.
Dick and I went to the Cheyenne County Fair last Thursday, where Dick judged the crop and garden entries. After the bad hail storm last Monday, there wasn't much left to be judged. Cora Coffman joined us for lunch at the fairgrounds.
Our grandson, Kyle, traveled to Winfield, Kansas, last Monday to spend the week with his family. He came home Sunday. He met Dick and I in Scott City for lunch Sunday. After lunch, Dick and I went on to Garden City to do some shopping, and Kyle went on to Towner. While shopping in Menard's, a nice young man spoke and called me by name. I didn't think I knew him, but upon looking again, I realized it was Brett Harkness and his daughter. I hadn't seen Brett for several years, and it was good to visit with him.
A reminder that the Plainview senior class is taking orders for Palisade peaches. The contact person is Sharon Scott at 719-727-4663 or 719-691-5042. Order before August 20.
Have a great week!!
