2016 Election Alerts:
How important is it to vote in the June 28, 2016 Primary Election? Please be aware that Primary Elections are to select candidates to go on to the November General Election.
Reminder: There will “NOT” be presidential candidates on the Primary Election Ballot. There will be state and local races on the Primary Ballot.
A Primary vote can be the deciding vote for an office if there is no one else running for that office. Pursuant to C.R.S. 1-4-105 “No person who has been defeated as a candidate in a primary election shall be eligible for election to the same office by ballot or as a write-in candidate in the next general election.”
If you are unsure of the party you are affiliated with, or what your current address information might be, please take the time now to check with our office or go to www.govotecolorado.com to check your registration information. You may also change your affiliation to reflect how you want to vote before the deadline of May 27, 2016 and your address by obtaining appropriate forms from the Clerk and Recorder’s Office or at the above listed web site. After this deadline you will receive the parties’ ballot that is listed on your registration records.
June 28, 2016 Primary will be held as an all-mail ballot delivery election for Kiowa County Voters. If you have moved since the last election you might need to update your address with us and doing so by May 27, 2016 will insure that you get your ballot in the mail. Ballots are not forwardable so we need to have your current address information in order for you to receive your ballot.
Ballots for all eligible registered voters will be mailed June 6 – June 10, 2016. There will be no additional Voter Service/Polling Centers open Primary Election Day. All voted ballots; replacement ballots or affiliation declarations must be returned to the Kiowa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 1305 Goff Street, P.O. Box 37 Eads, Colorado 81036 .
Unaffiliated voters that would like to vote in a Primary Election need to complete the proper form to obtain that parties’ primary ballot. The appropriate forms are available from the Clerk and Recorder’s Office or on line at www.govotecolorado.com through Primary Election day June 28, 2016 by 7:00 p.m. Unaffiliated voters can declare a party anytime up to and including Election Day.
2016 Election Dates: Colorado is an All Mail Ballot Delivery State. Voters will receive their Official Ballot in the mail for ALL Elections.
Primary Election Day: Tuesday, June 28, 2016 ballot will be mailed to all active voters affiliated with Republican or Democratic parties. Unaffiliated Voters need to affiliate and can do so either before or on Election Day.
General Election: Tuesday, November 8, 2016 ballots will be mailed to all active voters registered in Kiowa County.
The Clerk & Recorder’s and Motor Vehicle Office will be closed on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 thru Friday, April 15, 2016 for training.
