Fall is here. I woke up Saturday morning and looked outside at the thermometer. It was barely 30 degrees; that explains why the furnace was running.
Mother Nature is ready for winter. The foliage has cured and is plentiful. The critters should be able to find enough for grazing. So far, it has been a nice fall - cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon, not too windy. The antelope and deer have not bunched up. They must sense that hunting season is about to begin.
Card playing is ramping up with another session at the Wild Horse school October 22, 2023; $1 buy in and bring finger food. Come and enjoy the fellowship.
Recently, I posted on Facebook that I was facing a conundrum about the location of the original Kit Carson cemetery. The feedback was amazing.
I went to Flagler last week via KCR5 where they are expanding the Bronco Plains wind farm. They are using the next generation of towers to take advantage of the stable airflow band at 100 meters (about 328.08 feet) above ground level. It takes seven to eight trucks to bring the components for the installation: tower sections, the blades and the generator nacelle. They are using local ready-mix companies to supply approximately 150 cubic yards of concrete per tower for the foundations. Three cranes with a long boom and jib are being used. It takes more trucks to mobilize the cranes than transporting the components for the wind towers.
The United States Army Corps of Engineers and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are planning a party October 21, 2023, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the completion of the John Martin. I was planning to go, but I do not have a COVID-19 and/or a flu vaccination. According to Biden’s “Executive Order on Moving Beyond COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Federal Workers,” federal workers are no longer required to be vaccinated, but did not remove the ability of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency, or any other bureaucracy to mandate vaccination and wearing a mask if the elitists say that workers may be in danger. Pretty sneaky to use workplace safety to control the populace.
