“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV

Kim Crow Richards of Eads and Tammy Crow of Pueblo West have been spending most of their weekends and extra time over the past two years visiting their parents, Charles Crow and Betty Crow. Since the death of their father, the daughters have been sorting out items for family members. There is to be an online auction that will also include Charles’ classic cars. Tammy shared with us two booklets about the wonderful service her daughter, Misty Sprague, performs. She has been the volunteer executive director for raising over a million dollars to build recreational parks and ballfields around Rye, Colorado City, and surrounding communities to have a place for so many activities. Also, these ball parks save many families time when having to drive to have a good field to participated on. In the July publication, San Isabel Electric showed the wonderful new field. Misty said it has taken nearly four years, but they have nearly met the $4 million goal for the first three phases! I think is in part in her genes - look at her heritage: George and Shirley Crow and Gene Kelley and Irene Kelley her great-great grandparents, and her grandparents, Charles Crow and Betty Crow! Just as we local folk think about all the good things these ancestors did for the community around Eads, I think we would agree that it is a good family trait that follows these family members.

I have mentioned before what a joy it has been to have Eads High School senior, Kara Wilson, come to observe us and help us as the nurses and staff work with us. Today, I met another senior girl, Lexi Shotton. It never ceases to amaze me how pretty these high school girls are in “real life.” When you see them in person, and not on the sports floor or on a sports field, they are so pretty with long curly hair. I met Lexi in the physical therapy lab, where she was learning from PT Jared Smith. Lexi is considering whether she will go to college to be a therapist. She is learning from some of the very best here in Eads. I feel that I know, since I had Polio in 1949. They all have exemplary styles. I was thrilled this week to have Paige Johnson from Kit Carson, who taught me some new techniques. The people who come to Eads are very fortunate.

The Colorado Blooding sisters, Mary Eikner, Areta Blooding Lairdand Sylvia Weeks, plan to fly to California to the Memorial Service of their eldest sister, Mickie’s, husband, Les Faulkin, and to visit their sister, Shaleta.

Christina Wolf and Tyler Hill welcomed vendors for the Haswell Fall Bazaar that they organized last Saturday. I like to go to that Bazaar especially to see family and friends. I will tell you more about that next week.

Don’t forget the Eads senior citizen dinner at 12:00 p.m. at the Eads Senior Citizens Center, and the Haswell senior citizen dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Haswell Community Center October 15.

Dan Richards left October 2 on Southern Colorado Honor Flight 21. His daughter, Amy Weirich, accompanied him as volunteer guardian. Even though the government is shut down, there are a number of activities still planned for these veterans. Dan was drafted in 1968 and discharged in April 1970 after a tour in Vietnam.
