Ag stats: Kansas cattle on feed down 7 percent in September 2022

Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.36 million cattle on feed on October 1, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was down 7 percent from last year. 

Placements during September totaled 445,000 head, down 12 percent from 2021. 

Fed cattle marketings for the month of September totaled 455,000 head, up 5 percent from last year. 

Other disappearance during September totaled 10,000 head, unchanged from last year.
