Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending June 19, 2022

For the week ending June 19, 2022, there were 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 16% very short, 29% short, 52% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 19% very short, 25% short, 53% adequate, and 3% surplus. 

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 16% very poor, 24% poor, 33% fair, 25% good, and 2% excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 94%, near 90% last year. Mature was 70%, ahead of 54% last year and 56% for the five-year average. Harvested was 27%, ahead of 11% last year and 18% average. 

Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 9% poor, 34% fair, 45% good, and 10% excellent. Corn emerged was 93%, near 94% both last year and average. Silking was 2%, near 3% both last year and average. 

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 31% fair, 54% good, and 9% excellent. Soybeans planted was 83%, behind 89% both last year and average. Emerged was 70%, near 74% last year, and behind 75% average. 

Sorghum condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 35% fair, 54% good, and 4% excellent. Sorghum planted was 72%, behind 81% last year and 79% average. Headed was 1%, equal to average. 

Cotton condition rated 5% very poor, 12% poor, 44% fair, 35% good, and 4% excellent. Cotton squaring was 13%, behind 19% last year, but near 9% average. 

Sunflowers planted was 59%, behind 75% last year and 72% average. 

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 12% very poor, 15% poor, 30% fair, 39% good, and 4% excellent.
