Ag stats: November 2021 mountain states chickens and eggs report

COLORADO 

Colorado egg production during November 2021 was 120.3 million eggs, down 1 percent from October 2021 and down 11 percent from November 2020 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. The average number of layers on hand in November 2021 was 4.93 million, up 2 percent from October 2021 but down 9 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,438 eggs, down 3 percent from last year. 

UTAH 

Utah egg production during November 2021 was 153.0 million eggs, down less than one half percent from October 2021 but up 19 percent from November 2020 production, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. The average number of layers on hand during November 2021 was 6.14 million, up 4 percent from October 2021 and up 23 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,491 eggs, down 3 percent from last year. 

UNITED STATES 

United States egg production totaled 9.37 billion during November 2021, up slightly from last year. Production included 8.13 billion table eggs, and 1.24 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.17 billion were broiler-type and 73.8 million were eggtype. The average number of layers during November 2021 totaled 392 million, up 1 percent from last year. November egg production per 100 layers was 2,390 eggs, down slightly from November 2020. 

Total layers in the United States on December 1, 2021 totaled 393 million, up slightly from last year. The 393 million layers consisted of 328 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 61.9 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 2.97 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on December 1, 2021, averaged 79.8 eggs per 100 layers, down slightly from December 1, 2020. 

Egg-type chicks hatched during November 2021 totaled 45.8 million, down 5 percent from November 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 48.4 million on December 1, 2021, down 9 percent from a year ago. 

Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 204 thousand during November 2021, up 21 percent from November 2020. 

Broiler-type chicks hatched during November 2021 totaled 799 million, up 2 percent from November 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 722 million on December 1, 2021, up 2 percent from a year ago. 

Leading breeders placed 7.99 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during November 2021, up 2 percent from November 2020.
