December 6, Plainview hosted the annual senior citizen lunch for seniors and special people in the area. Lunch was turkey, stuffing, dressing, and green-bean casserole, with sides of sweet potatoes, pie, and cranberry fluff. Our cook, Lyle Miller, cooked the delicious meal, and the staff provided the sides. The middle school and high served the dinner and did some decorating. Morgan Blodgett-Vanderpool decorated the scene with a fireplace, trees and a snowman. The elementary students made the table decorations as well as the decorations for the paper trees. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the fellowship.

December 7, the junior high Hawks basketball team took on the Cheyenne Wells Tigers C team in a close match up, especially in the second half of play. Cheyenne Wells won in the last seconds of play with a shot by #21. The score was 17-15.

December 8, the junior high knowledge team competed at the Springfield Junior High Knowledge Meet; the team tied with Lamar 7 for third; but because the Lamar team had a higher previous oral score, the Hawks placed fourth out of 15 seventh grade teams. The junior high team is composed of Gael Munoz, Alexa Munoz, and Jaxson Specht and is coached by Ruth Fees, Plainview English teacher.

Also on Friday, our senior, Elijah Harkness, hosted the annual school carnival. Everyone had a good time. The booths included senior-honey sales and soup supper; juniors- jail, sucker tree, and snow cones; sophomore and freshman- dart throw, beanbag toss, and greeting card sales; the eighth grade-an obstacle course and ping pong ball drop; and the sixth grade-wii dancing and a throne throw.

December 13, the high school and middle school cultural and cuisine classes took a fieldtrip to Colorado Springs, where they ate at Greek restaurant and went to the National Museum of World War II Aviation. (Hopefully, I will have pictures for the next installment.)
