Wednesday night brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m., with increasing clouds and a low around 64. Southeast winds of 10 to 20 mph will continue gusting as high as 35 mph.
The National Weather Service forecast office in Goodland, Kan., which covers Cheyenne County, listed no watches, warnings or advisories for the area as of Tuesday afternoon, though the hot, gusty pattern is expected to hold through midweek before slightly cooler air arrives behind Thursday night's rain chances.

The most promising chance of rain arrives Thursday night, when showers are likely before midnight with a 60 percent chance of precipitation under mostly cloudy skies. Any moisture would be welcome on the eastern plains, where drought conditions continue to deepen across southeast Colorado.
