Cheyenne Wells weekend forecast: Sunny and warm, with fire danger elevated Saturday
Sunny, warm weather is forecast for Cheyenne County this weekend, with highs of 84 degrees Saturday and 85 Sunday, but the National Weather Service in Goodland, Kan., says fire danger will be elevated again Saturday afternoon.
Saturday should be sunny, with a high near 84 and south winds of 10 to 15 mph. Tonight will be clear and breezy, with a low around 56 and south winds of 10 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 35 mph. Saturday night brings increasing clouds, a low near 59 and south winds of 5 to 15 mph, with gusts to 30 mph.
Forecasters described Friday’s fire weather as near-critical to critical in parts of the region. “Similar conditions are expected to develop again tomorrow afternoon,” a meteorologist with the forecast office in Goodland wrote in Friday’s Area Forecast Discussion.
Fire danger elevated, no warning
No Red Flag Warning or Fire Weather Watch is listed for Colorado counties in the Goodland forecast area. The discussion said relative humidity may drop into the teens Saturday, with gusts around 30 to 35 mph, especially near the Tri-State border. Residents should use caution with outdoor burning and anything that can throw sparks.
