Colorado Wildlife Council seeks applicants for East Slope angler representative vacancy
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking a qualified volunteer to fill an open seat on the Colorado Wildlife Council representing East Slope anglers, the agency announced Tuesday.
The vacant seat represents anglers east of the Continental Divide and is one of nine positions on the council, which oversees a statewide, media-based public information program focused on educating Coloradans about wildlife management and the role of hunting and fishing in conservation.
The council includes representatives from the hunting and fishing communities, agriculture, local governments, the media and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Members work with a professional advertising firm on campaigns such as “Hug a Hunter/Angler” and “Science in the Wild,” which highlight how conservation in Colorado is funded largely through hunting and fishing license purchases.
Position responsibilities include:
• Providing professional expertise and representing constituents.
• Guiding creative campaigns that promote hunting and fishing.
• Attending monthly meetings, both in person and virtual.
• Reviewing materials and providing input between meetings.
• Participating in subcommittees and stakeholder engagement.
The position is unpaid, but members are reimbursed for travel expenses. Volunteers who contribute 48 or more hours annually are eligible for a free Colorado state parks pass.
Eligibility requirements:
• Must be a Colorado resident.
• Must regularly purchase Colorado fishing licenses.
• Must be nominated by an organized sportspersons group with regional or statewide membership.
Applications must be submitted by June 12, 2026.
