Eads Board of Trustees meeting minutes - June 14, 2022

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday June 14, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. Robin Fox took roll call:

  • Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
  • Trustees – Present –Kathy McCracken, Stephanie Sewell, Tuck Liebl, Dennis Pearson and Fred Derby
  • Absent – Justin McLoud
  • Town Clerk- Robin Fox 
  • Assistant Clerk- Mikahael McCracken
  • Director of Public Works- Van Brown
  • Town Attorney – Lance Clark – Absent

Minutes­- Stephanie Sewell moved to approve the minutes as presented. Fred Derby seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Kathy McCracken moved to approve payment of the bills.  Stephanie Sewell seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment- Kayla Murdock with Kiowa County Sheriff’s office was present to answer any questions. She handed out a graph of all the calls they did for the month of May in Eads.

New Business:

Van informed the board that he did acquire 8 shares of water. Each share will cost $400.00. Having these shares should help the town with the water shortage. He said that people still should try to conserve water usage. Dennis Pearson moved to approve, Tuck Liebl seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Animal Permits – The board agreed to let Robin approve permits without the board’s approval. They also agreed that letters need to be sent out to everyone that has animals and not getting permits. Those who do not get permits will be fined. Fines can reach up to $300.00. Kathy McCracken moved to approve these changes, Stephanie Sewell seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Grants- Cindy McLoud gave an update on the sidewalk and work that will be taking place in front of the theater. The grant was approved with a 10 % match. 

Baseball field- the town was approached about taking over the home plate baseball field. The board would like more information. They will table this for now.
