The nice wet snow we received Friday was most welcome, although it did hamper travel to ball games, funerals and late Christmas celebrations in the area. The fog all day Sunday was hard to deal with when driving, but at least the highways were clear.

Our communities would like to extend their condolences to Freda Schmidt and family on the loss of her sister this past week. Several family members hope to fly to Washington for the services.

Connie Weber was down for the weekend to visit with family and help her mom, Theresa Weber, celebrate her birthday. Larry and Judy Tuttle brought Theresa a cake Sunday afternoon and everyone helped her eat it. Happy birthday Theresa.

Around 26 of the Harris clan gathered at the home of Rick and Kim Harris for their family Christmas celebration. They also celebrated birthdays for Hunter, Ryker, Reagan and Tim. Happy Birthday!!

Larry and Judy Tuttle and Burl and Cathy Scherler went to Cheyenne Wells after church Sunday to have lunch. Cora Coffman was eating lunch at the same place and they enjoyed visiting with her.

Here is a list of the upcoming basketball games. Boys and girls - January 17 at 4:00 p.m. at Las Animas; January 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Deerfield, Kansas; January 25 at Springfield and February 2 at 10:30 a.m. a tri-meet between Plainview, Eads and Lonestar at Plainview. Come on out and support our students.

No one had much for news. Everyone was getting back in the grove of going to school and back to jobs after the holiday.

There seems to be a lot of the flu and colds making the rounds so take extra precautions to try and stay healthy.

Have a great week!!
