Mr. Hammer was born February 12, 1938, in Colorado Springs, and died unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs September 15, 2025, at the age of 87. 

He is survived by his sons, Tony (Brenda) Hammer of Wild Horse and Andy (Teri) Hammer of Wild Horse; and daughter, Kim (Jerry) Jaquess of Colorado Springs.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.

Mr. Hammer was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents; one brother; and one sister.  

Funeral services for Wild Horse resident Ernest “Ernie” W. Hammer will be held at Praise Community Church in Eads September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.  

Burial will follow in the Wild Horse Cemetery in Wild Horse at 2:00 p.m.
