Governor Polis announces judicial appointment to the Larimer County Court

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has appointed Jenny L. Lopez Filkins to the Larimer County Court in the 8th Judicial District. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Mary Joan Berenato and is effective September 16, 2022.

Lopez Filkins is a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Fort Collins, a position she has held since 2014. Her practice consists of municipal, employment, and constitutional law.

Previously, she was the Title VI Coordinator for the City of Fort Collins' Finance Department (2013-2014); Assistant City Attorney for the City of Fort Collins (2006-2013); Sole Practitioner at Lopez Filkins Law Firm, LLC (2004-2006); Affirmative Action & Diversity Manager for Coors Brewing Company (2000-2001); and Associate Attorney for DiFalco & Associates (1992-1999).

Lopez Filkins earned her B.A. from Colorado College in 1989 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 1992.
