Granada School District RE-1 Graduation Plan – Seniors and 8th Grade

Granada School District RE-1 Graduation Ceremony Parade - May 23, 2020 10:00 a.m.

  • Park in front of the school (facing the school)
  • Graduation parade watchers will need to stay in their cars at all times.
  • The class of 2020 will parade in their vehicles through the town, down main street and then to the front of the school.  The parade will be led by the police and followed by a fire truck.
  • We ask that parents of the graduate to also ride in the car with their graduate.
  • A graduation stage will be set up in front of the school in the bus lane.
  • At the stage, the graduate will get out of the car, walk across the stage, receive their diploma, and pick up roses for their parent(s).
  • Only parent(s) will be allowed out of the car to take pictures at this time.
  • Once the previous graduate and parents are back in their car and have moved on, the next graduate will pull up to the stage and repeat the procedure.
  • Everyone else MUST remain in his or her car. Please do not bring golf carts or open vehicles of any sort to the graduation.  
  • Do not throw anything from your cars during the graduation parade. (ie.. candy)
  • There will be a Facebook Live feed of the diploma presentation so that everyone in his or her vehicles are able to view the stage presentation.
  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, the seniors will take a final drive around the parade route where they will conclude with the traditional changing of their tassels. 
  • Remember to practice social distancing and follow the CDC and Prowers County Public Health guidelines at all times.

SENIORS

  • Meet in front of the school (in the bus lane) at 9:15 a.m. to be lined up for the parade.
  • You will be lined up alphabetically, as if you were on the stage.
  • Wear your graduation attire (cap, gown, tassel, dress clothes, and honor hoods/tassels (if applicable)
  • Remain in your vehicle at all times, except to cross the stage and receive your diploma.
  • You are welcome to decorate your own vehicle (school appropriate decorations please)
  • We will let you know when you are able to pick up cap and gowns, gold cords, NHS Hoods, etc.
