Invenergy opens office in Eads to support Towner Energy Center
Invenergy has opened its fourth Colorado office with the launch of an Eads location Wednesday to support its Towner East and Towner West wind energy projects.
Those projects were approved by the Kiowa County Commissioners earlier this year, and are expected to generate 500 megawatts each – enough to power nearly 400,000 homes.
Located in the Bransgrove Building on Maine Street in Eads, the new office will serve as a base for the development of the Towner Energy Center, including the Towner projects. Long-term operations and maintenance buildings within the project site are intended to replace the office once the Towner Energy Center reaches commercial operations, currently projected to be in 2026 and 2027.
“Invenergy’s new office in Eads is a sign of our dedication to the development of the Towner Energy Center, and to collaboration with the Kiowa County Board of County Commissioners,” said Natacha Kiler, Director of Renewable Development at Invenergy. “We remain committed to being long-term partners with the County and look forward to advancing the wind projects from this space.”
The project is expected to produce up to 700 jobs during the construction phase, with 30 operations and maintenance jobs once commercial operations begin. The site will provide up to $100 million in local and state taxes to the surrounding communities throughout the expected 30 year life of the project, and well as addition funds from land costs and least payments. In total, the project could be expected to generate nearly a quarter-billion dollars for governments and landowners over its expected useful life.
Invenergy has developed seven projects in Colorado, including six wind energy projects and a natural gas-fired energy peaker plant to produce more than 1,200 megawatts of electricity.
More than 20 area residents, including the Kiowa County Commissioners and members of the county’s Planning and Zoning board, were on hand to celebrate the office opening with Kiler. Kiowa County Fire Protection District Fire Chief Russ Watson provided lunch for those attending.
The office in Eads joins Colorado offices in Fort Lupton and Peetz, and a corporate office in Denver. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and has offices in seven countries across North America, Europe and Asia.
The Eads office will be open by appointment only. Information about the Towner Energy Center is available at www.townerenergycenter.com.
