- The Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site employees and local volunteers hosted dinner for the participants and families of the 12thAnnual Sand Creek Massacre Healing Run.
25 Years Ago - December 8, 2000
- The Board of Directors for the Kiowa County Growers Inc was selected by the Eads Chamber of Commerce to receive the “Volunteer of the Year” award.
- East End Event- Christy Hopkins: If you are in Towner after dark, take a look at Dick and Sharon Scott’s Christmas lights. They have really outdone themselves this year.
40 Years Ago - December 6, 1985
- Sheriff’s Report November 27: Search for escapee; Search for runaway. Accident North of Eads.
- Virginia Snyder, daughter of Hilda Culver and religion reporter for the Denver Post, is in Rome covering the Synod at the Vatican. She has her own computer and can get news from Rome to Denver in 4 minutes.
50 Years Ago - December 5, 1975
- Eads has one of the most beautiful Christmas trees ever, set in the middle of Maine Street and decorated.
- Kiowa County RE-1 School Board granted a salary increase of 8.8% to administrators & 6.6 % plus benefits to non-certified employees.
- Carcasses numbering approximately 2,400 piled up around the rendering plant in Tribune, Kansas, as ranchers find more dead animals buried in snow drifts following the blizzard on November 19 and 20.
