  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: Harvest is winding down, elevators and farm storage bins are full. Several large grain piles are seen across the county.
  • Betty Crow, LaVerle Kelley, Loretta Seibel, and Delores Rector returned from a tour of England, France, and Spain.

  • Extension Agent George H. Ellicott retires marking the end of a 40 year career, which includes 30 in Kiowa County, as CSU Cooperative Extension Agent.
  • Linly Stum returned from a 2 week trip to Russia with ACDI/VOCA program.

40 Years Ago - November 1, 1985

  • The Plainview Hawkettes volleyball team qualified to go to state for the first time ever in Plainview history

50 Years Ago - October 311975

  • Kiowa County is preparing for a soil survey requested by the county commissioners.
  • Kiowa County RE-1 School Board voted to raise the teachers base pay by 6.6 percent.
  • One year old Ryan Murdock of Sheridan Lake was bitten on the heel by a rattlesnake.

75 Years Ago - 1950

  • Eads- Everyone who is interested in wiring their houses for REA and appliances is welcome to come to the meeting at city hall.
  • Brandon- E.H. Tallman is driving a ’50 Cadillac. The color is two tone blue and gray.

100 Years Ago - 1925

  • Stuart-T.M. Martin has installed a loud speaking radio in his home this week
