- Alyssa Splitter of Sheridan Lake represented the Wranglers Gymnastic Team at the Colorado State Championships, and won Bronze on the balance beam. This was her first year in competition.
- Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: The exciting news was the big rain. Kit Carson got over three inches. Some hail, too, which took a toil on gardens.
25 Years Ago - August 3, 2001
- About Town- Ida Lessenden: Big Sandy was running after a three-inch rain at Kit Carson. The cattle were enjoying standing in the water trying to cool off in the 100-degree heat.
40 Years Ago - August 1, 1986
- The High Plains 14–15-year-old Babe Ruth All Stars won third place in the State Babe Ruth Tournament.
50 Years Ago - July 30, 1976
- The Kiowa County Invitational 4-H Dog Show will be held at the Eads High School Football field.
- A cooperative, permanent television board involving Cheyenne and Kiowa counties will be established as the result of a joint county commissioners meeting.
75 Years Ago - August 3, 1951
- Eads Boys Scouts held a push-mobile race on Maine Street. Eight cars constructed by the boys entered the race.
100 Years Ago - July 30, 1926
- AD: Coal will be 50¢ Higher August First- Buy Now and Save- C.H. Helms Grain Co.
- NOTICE! Parties that took gas can and oil can out of loader at gravel pit are well known to me. So leave gas and oil cans with same amount of gas and oil in them at the County Garage and save yourself some trouble.
