  • Baby Bear Hugs has offered education and support to parents in Kiowa County since 1996 will be discontinued.

  • The US Postal Service has again increased the mailing rates for newspapers and magazines causing the Press to increase subscription prices

40 Years Ago - July 25, 1986

  • Judy Hines of Kit Carson won first place in the Tri-County Centennial logo contest. Helen Bledsoe of Hugo was second and Dodie Nester of Cheyenne Wells third.

50 Years Ago - July 23, 1976

  • The reconstructed Bent’s Old Fort will celebrate its Grand Opening July 24-25. Governor Richard Lamm will officiate at the ceremonies.

75 Years Ago - July 27, 1951

  • There was an open house at Warren Portrey home west of Eads. The attraction was a new round house; the first house built on that pattern.

100 Years Ago - July 23, 1926

  • Four men from the County Jail have been busy cleaning up the town of Eads weeds under the supervision of Town Marshal Wunderlich
