  • Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: We had a strange thing happen that we’re not used to…IT RAINED.
  • The Santa Fe Trail Scenic and Historic Byway will have the first ever King Coal Car Race in Trinidad. Teams will push their own specially designed and built coal cars for the fastest time on a challenging course.

  • Eads Town will hold a Best-Looking Yard contest. First place - $15 off water bill; second - $10 off; third - $5 off. Open to anyone on Eads town water.

40 Years Ago - May 23, 1986

  • Senior Citizens News- Rhua Sloan: Congratulations are due to the ones responsible for the attractive corner of Maine and 15th Streets.

50 Years Ago - May 211976

  • Kenneth Ritter reviving ancient skill of rope making. Ritter made a wooden frame which is a rope machine. Kenneth was a shop teacher in Del Norte for three years, and 17 years in Eads.
  • Wind power, once widely used on American farms but replace during the 1930s, is being remined for farm and rural use.

75 Years Ago - May 25, 1951

  • A test well is being drilled by Shell Oil Company

100 Years Ago - May 21,1926

  • Crop prospects have never been brighter for spring crops than this year in Kiowa County.
  • The old shoe shop has gone. In its place is now a clean looking, modern-equipped shop with electric driven machinery. Quite a contrast to what Eads has been used to in the past.
