  • Due to budget cuts, the Kiowa County Clerk’s office will be closed during the noon hour, 12:00-1:00 p.m. daily.
  • Shawn Randel was named Coach of the Year for Class 6-A.
  • Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: I missed going to see Santa in Carson, so I didn’t get to sit on his lap to get my picture taken and bag of candy.
  • New minimum wage goes into effect January 1. It will increase from $6.85 hour to $7.02.

  • The Eads Board of Trustees granted Eagle Vision L.L.C. the right to assume the Galaxy Cablevision franchise upon the completion of the purchase of the system.

December 17, 1982

  • Kiowa County voters in School District RE-1passed the mill levy increase by only a 4-vote margin at the poll Tuesday.
  • The Plainview Jr. High basketball won second place in the invitational tournament held in Cheyenne Wells.

December 19, 1972

  • The Eads Lions Club is sponsoring a campaign to buy furniture for the nurses’ quarters at Weisbrod Memorial Hospital.
  • Kit Carson News- Ruby Lafferty: Antelope by the hundreds are dotting the prairie and fields in the Wild Horse area are being driven by the drifting snows which have covered the grass.
  • Towner has a thriving small industry in its birdseed plant. The plant has been in operation since 1967. The first owners were two brothers name Alver. They sold in 1969 to International Multifoods.

  • Homer Jackson is getting to be the champion mouse slayer of the school. He murdered two last week. Poor mice!
