  • Eads High School business students received the Caroline Bancroft History Award for their “contribution to public awareness, interest and advancement of Colorado history.” Students Sanket Merchant, Matt Seay, Derek Shotton, Billy Brandt, Chevaun Glover, Drew Koch, Jordan Barnett, Chandni Merchant, Charlie Philpy, Keith Hester, Rhaeli Sicklebower, Lisa Miller, and Levi Hallman were involved with the Sample Town project.
  • Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: I was Nanny at the Mitchell home. I had charged of two 6 yr. old’s, a 12, 13-, 14-, 16- and 18-year-old. Everything went well except for a flat tire on the school bus and dead battery – Not in the same day.

  • Colorado Wheat Research Foundation filed two lawsuits in the US District Court in Denver seeking an injunction, damages and attorney’s fees for the alleged unauthorized advertising, marketing, and sale of “Halt” variety wheat seed.

  • The Kiowa County chapter of WIFE was honored to serve at a barbeque sponsored by the Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee in honor of a wheat industry team from Taiwan.
  • From the Sheriff’s Desk- Floyd Griswould: Two deputies and myself responded to the field west of Arlington where a shooting had taken place.

  • Restructuring of the Lower Arkansas Valley Council (LAVCOG) delayed until after the November election.
  •  Ralph Berry was awarded a saddle for being the high individual money winner in team roping during the local jackpot roping season.
