Schools in Morgan County respond to two potential safety threats this week

Fort Morgan Middle School responded to a potential safety threat involving a student on Friday, Jan. 17, and alerted the community that the school had taken action to ensure student and staff safety.

In a letter released Friday, Morgan County School District Re-3 Superintendent Dr. James Hammack said the district worked with “local law enforcement, health and support services professionals, and district staff” to act according to district policy in response to the threat on Friday.

“Please be advised that the Morgan County School District Re-3 Administration and the Administration of the Fort Morgan Middle School have been made aware of a potential threat to safety involving a student at the Fort Morgan Middle School,” Hammack wrote. “Immediately following this awareness, the Administrations have taken comprehensive and appropriate actions to provide for the safety and security of students and staff.”
