The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of southeast Colorado Saturday afternoon. The watch is expected to expire at 9:00 p.m.

Strong wind gusts and some hail are possible in the area, along with a few thunderstorms to help bring relief to the drought-plagued area.

Counties covered by the watch include Baca, Bent, Las Animas and Otero.

Portions of northwest New Mexico, Oklahoma panhandle and northern Texas are also included in the watch area.
