AARP: To prevent fraud, better to be 'rude' than 'robbed'

(Northern Rockies News Service) Fraud prevention experts are getting the word out in Idaho on how to avoid scams.

Events across the state in October aim to help people identify and protect themselves from thieves.

Cathy McDougall, director of outreach for AARP Idaho, said if you suspect someone of a con, it is best not to engage with them.

Nuclear waste transportation draws opposition in west

(Northern Rockies News Service) Concerns are growing in the west about nuclear waste transportation. 

Tuesday, the Snake River Alliance held a webinar on these concerns, heightened by the potential of a temporary waste facility opening in New Mexico. 

Kevin Kamps is the radioactive waste specialist for Beyond Nuclear. He said these fears are combined with the recent train derailment of toxic waste in Ohio. 

He said the federal government and nuclear power industry are rushing to create the New Mexico temporary waste facility.
