Well, the Kiowa County Fair has come and gone for another year. It was a good fair and there were more exhibits than last year. The weather was ideal - not too hot and not too cold. A large crowd was in attendance Friday and Saturday. The parade was great, and the car show was well attended. The Plainview student council members along with a couple of helpers from Eads ran the game booths both days and they were a big hit with the kids.

I can't believe it is fair week already. Hope everyone can come and enjoy the activities. We have been busy picking and digging our garden produce and getting it ready to show at the fair. Kyle and I have been doing some baking and making candy and I have also been busy making pickles, jelly and relish to show. Fun! Fun!

Last Thursday, Susan Greenfield and Jeanie Smith went to Holly to watch their girls play volleyball. Friday, they went to La Junta shopping and then back to Manzanola to watch the Eads football and volleyball teams play.

Our communities would like to offer their condolences to the family of Mike Benge who passed away last week. Mike ran the filling station and parts store for several years in Sheridan Lake before moving to Lamar. He always had a smile and enjoyed visiting when he ran into friends. He will be missed by his many friends.

We also offer our condolences to the Braden Lane family on the loss of their loved one this past week.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I did -- didn't have to cook!!

GREAT NEWS!! After spending 3 months in the hospital, Jerry Weber has been released and is staying with his sister, Kathy Knutson in Denver while he does therapy. We are happy that you are doing so well Jerry, but I'm sure no one is any happier than you are!! Hope to see you back home soon.

I found out that a friend in Holly had passed away and was buried before I received the news. Maybe the old form of communication was better than all our modern technology. Anyway, our condolences to the family of Lonnie Hess, former Towner resident and was living in Holly when he passed away. His daughter, Lonetta, and I went to school together in Towner.

Jerry Weber got out of ICU on Saturday. Keep him in your prayers as he moves forward to recovery.

Last Wednesday, I went to Cheyenne Wells to see the doctor and then had lunch with Cora Coffman.
