The first Monday in August has found Kiowa County and many others experiencing a strange summer. The weather has blessed much of the area with much needed rains that slowed down wheat harvest which finally wrapped up at the end of July. 

For the 4-H members in Kiowa County, August 7 found members and supporters filling the senior center in Eads with their completed projects. These members should be proud of the hard work and determination that it took for them to earn their placing. 

Along with presenting projects to judges, youth also were interviewed about the work that they have done on the projects. This is a great learning experience for these kids while improving speaking skills, youth also learn more about how to improve upon their projects. 

With the judging completed, the evening found many great supporters showing up to view the projects and placings. At 6:00 p.m., the County 4-H Council started the evening events with the American and 4-H pledges. 

The council then moved on to presenting the fashion revue in which four young ladies showcased the clothing projects that they had made this summer. 

Then the Grand and Reserve Champion awards were presented followed by the food auction with Rob Morlan auctioneering the tasty items that fetched a total of $3,125 with added donations.
