The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced several public comment and engagement opportunities for September 2026, including a new standing public comment period at its weekly meetings beginning September 9.

The PUC 9-1-1 Enterprise Board held its monthly meeting Wednesday, September 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom.

On September 22, the Commission will hold a virtual public comment hearing from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Xcel Energy's 2027-2028 Resource Adequacy proposal, Proceeding No. 26A-0235E. On June 15, 2026, Xcel Energy filed an application asking the Commission to approve a portfolio of electric resources to meet customer needs for 2027 and 2028. The proposal includes demand response, acceleration of new generation unit construction, plant repairs, new and extended power purchase agreements, and an extension of the planned retirement date of its Unit 2 coal-fired generation facility to March 31, 2028. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, public comment will be taken at the start of each Commissioners' Weekly Meeting at 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday, excluding holidays. Virtual comment is available every week. On the second Wednesday of each month, the meeting operates in a hybrid format allowing both virtual and in-person comments. Advance registration is encouraged but not required via the PUC Meetings and Events Calendar at puc.colorado.gov/puccalendar.

Comments during the Commissioners' Weekly Meeting cannot address matters currently before the Commission, agenda items for that meeting, or active pending proceedings.
