Driver arrested after 154 mph pursuit through Cheyenne and Lincoln counties
A high-speed pursuit that reached more than 154 mph ended with one arrest the evening of May 8 after a blue Audi fled a traffic stop in Cheyenne County and was tracked across roughly 46 miles into Lincoln County, the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office reported.
The pursuit began when Cheyenne County deputies were conducting a traffic stop and the Audi failed to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles, the agency said. When deputies attempted to make contact with the driver, the vehicle refused to stop.
The chase traveled through Wild Horse and crossed into Lincoln County before Lincoln County deputies deployed stop sticks, bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion.
One adult male was arrested at the scene. Two additional occupants were released pending further investigation.
Investigators say the same vehicle is the suspect vehicle in a hit-and-run in the Denver area.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office credited the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Limon Police Department for their assistance and coordinated response during the incident.
Charges being sought include felony eluding; seven counts of possession of a large-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony; possession of burglary tools; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle; speeding 154 mph in a 65 mph zone; reckless driving; failure to present proof of insurance; and passing on the right or left when prohibited.
