Colorado Governor Jared Polis has appointed V. William Scarpato, III to the 2nd Judicial District Court in Denver, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Bruce A. Jones, effective January 13, 2027.

Scarpato currently serves as Senior Litigation Counsel and Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado, positions he has held since 2025 and 2020, respectively. His practice consists primarily of civil litigation.

Prior to his federal service, Scarpato was an Associate Attorney at Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell LLP from 2017 to 2020, an Associate Attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP from 2015 to 2017, and a Law Clerk to the Honorable Harvey Bartle III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2015.

Scarpato earned his B.A. from Pomona College in 2008 and his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2013.
