Lamar heads for sunny mid-80s weekend after Friday storm chances
Prowers County will see patchy fog and scattered storm chances Friday before high pressure builds in for a sunny, warmer weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast office in Pueblo. Highs near Lamar reach the mid-80s Saturday and Sunday before showers return early next week.
Friday brings a 20 percent chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., with patchy fog before 10 a.m. and a high near 75 degrees around Lamar. East wind of 5 to 15 mph becomes south in the morning. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms continues before 9 p.m. Friday night, with a low around 54.
"Another wet and seasonably cool day today… showers and thunderstorms will be possible through most of the day and into this evening," a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pueblo wrote in Friday’s Area Forecast Discussion. The office said drier, warmer conditions return this weekend before an unsettled pattern brings widespread precipitation and cooler temperatures back to the region next week.
No fire weather warnings in effect
No Red Flag Warnings or other fire weather advisories were in effect for Prowers County as of Friday morning. The Pueblo forecast office’s latest Area Forecast Discussion listed no active watches, warnings or advisories for the area, though forecasters continue to track elevated afternoon conditions as the weekend warms and dries out.
