A 33-year-old man visiting John Martin Reservoir State Park in Bent County died Saturday night, according to a media release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Details are limited, however a person who found the man in the showers at the park called 911 to alert emergency responders around 9:00 p.m. Saturday and began performing CPR. A CPW officer arrived minutes later and administered Narcan, which can counter the effects of certain drug overdoses.

A Bent County Sheriff’s deputy, along with EMTs and fire fighters from Hasty-McClave and Lamar, arrived and continued efforts to revive the man. Those efforts were unsuccessful, and the Bent County Coroner was called to the scene. The coroner pronounced the man dead at 10:30 p.m.

An investigation into the death is underway.
