Obituary - Tyson Dale Mitchell

March 12, 1993 ~ June 24, 2017

Tyson Dale Mitchek, age 24, of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2017 in Cheyenne Wells. 

Born in Lamar, Colorado on March 12, 1993 to parents Sam and Gaila (Sniff) Mitchek, Tyson grew up on the family farm in Cheyenne Wells.  He was one of five siblings.  Tyson graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School with the Class of 2011.  He then went on to further his education at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado where he studied Media Broadcasting.  Tyson was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Wells and on April 1, 2007 was confirmed in his faith. 

In 2013 Tyson returned to Cheyenne Wells, once again joining his dad at work on the family farm and ranch.  He was a proud father to his son, McCoy.  Tyson enjoyed coaching high school sports.  He was the head varsity wrestling coach as well as the assistant football coach at Cheyenne Wells High School.  Spending time wakeboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter were some of Tyson’s favorite past times. He loved music and attending concerts, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan as well as a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. 

Tyson was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; two uncles, Henry Mitchek and Cris Mitchek; and four cousins, Holly Mitchek, Zachary Mitchek, Abe Mitchek and Spencer Sharp. 

He is survived by his son McCoy Mitchek of Akron, Colorado; parents, Sam and Gaila Mitchek of Cheyenne Wells; two brothers, Nathan Steelman of Aurora, Colorado and Dustin (Sami) Steelman of Berthoud, Colorado; two sisters, Casey (Andy) Love of Limon, Colorado and Samantha Mitchek of Burlington, Colorado; two nieces, Ariah Steelman and Harlow Frihauf; three nephews, Zaco Frihauf, Stryker Steelman and Wyatt Love; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members and close friends.  He is also survived by a nephew, baby boy Love due in October.

Funeral Services were held June 29, 2017, at Cheyenne Wells High School. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells. Love Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements
