  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: High winds and drought conditions are still wreaking havoc on the winter wheat crop and causing concerns about grass pastures and planting of spring crops.

  • The Weisbrod Hospital has completed converting 10 of its hospital beds to nursing home beds. The move was an effort to implement financial stability in the facility.
  • Lloyd “Slim” Barr was present a plaque for his 34 faithful years’ service as Trustee of the Sheridan Lake Town Council.

50 Years Ago - April 301976

  • State acreage seeded to winter wheat last fall was up three percent. Corn producers intend to plant five percent more than 1975, with sorghum planting down eight percent.
  • More than 200 people will pay $3.50 each to pay tribute to the athletic efforts of nearly 100 Eads High School athletes.

75 Years Ago - May 4, 1951

  • The Methodist Church in Eads, undergoing remodeling, was damaged by the high wind. Rafters and a brick wall were destroyed, making a shamble of things

100 Years Ago - April 30, 1926

  • Towner News: H.E. Kean had the misfortune to have the biggest part of his clothing burned when a fire started in the cream station. The fire was extinguished before any damage was done to the building.
  • Rush Creek: Some people went up to Mrs. Sheesleys to surprise her, but, she and Ray had just left, so they spent the evening playing games and, at a late hour, everyone enjoyed the fruit salad and cake.
