• Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: Eads got 3”, Wiley 4”, and we had 1.5”. Didn’t see any snow but got as close as Wild Horse.

• Northwest Bank Colorado and the Colorado High School Activities Association announced Eads High School among the schools wining the Northwest Cup.
• 4-H- George H. Ellicott: Heidi and Kylie Weirich and Tyrell Fickenscher each received $50 savings bond from Federal Land Bank Association for having the top three livestock record books in Kiowa County.

November 5, 1971

• Four dead, one survivor of a plane crash near Brandon. Alfred Carlson of Atlanta, Georgia, despite severe burns, walked over a mile to get help for his companions.
• Sam Strong of Weskan, Kansas, died when his light plane crashed in a pasture a few miles east of Kit Carson.
• There have been several major flights of the lesser Canadian and Snow geese passing over on their way to Texas lakes and the Gulf areas of Louisiana and Texas.
