POTENTIAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
At the time of writing this UPDATE, Congress has not passed appropriations for the Government to remain open past midnight on Saturday, September 30th. If a budget or continuing resolution is not passed before Monday, October 2nd, all USDA Service Centers will be closed until funding is approved. There is a drop box south of the front doors that will be checked daily if there is paperwork that you want to return to FSA or NRCS.
CRP GRASSLAND CONTRACT GRAZING RECORDS
The FSA County Committee determined that since the county received an abundance of moisture earlier this spring and early summer that CRP Grassland contract producers WILL NOT be required to submit the grazing records for the year.
The County Committee reminds CRP contract participants that maintenance of the CRP acres is the responsibility of the participants. This year was one for the record books; however, as we all know drought conditions will return and producers will need to manage the Grassland contracts accordingly. As always, if producers have questions regarding any CRP contract; please contact either FSA or NRCS offices.
2021 ELRP phase 2 and 2022 ELRP PAYMENTS ISSUED
Thursday morning, Kiowa County FSA issued 2021 ELRP (Emergency Livestock Relief Program) phase 2 payments. This payment is an additional 20% of the 2021 ELRP phase 1 payments that were issued in April 2022. Producers who applied and have approved applications for 2021 LFP (Livestock Forage Program) will be receiving the additional payment.
The office also issued 2022 ELRP (Emergency Livestock Relief Program) payments. This payment is computed from the 2022 LFP (Livestock Forage Program) approved application. The payment is equal to 20% of the 2022 LFP gross payment amount (before sequestration) for the producer.
