KIOWA COUNTY LOAN RATE FOR WHEAT

When you are in a hurry and don’t check what you are putting in the paper can cause problems.  Last week I used the Lincoln County LDP rates instead of Kiowa County rates.  Lincoln County has a loan rate of $3.08 - Kiowa’s loan rate is $3.03.  I appreciate the producer who read my article and pointed out my error.  See if I can get it right this week.

The software to issue LDP’s is still not available.  Once software becomes available; payments will be a top priority.

LDP rates for Hard Red Wheat in Kiowa County from last week.  Rates are updated daily by 8:00 a.m. MST.

Be reminded, producers who sell grain and request the LDP after the sale of the grain will receive the rate for the day the grain was sold.  A current ledger or load summary from the elevator is required to verify bushels are either in open storage or are sold bushels.

Again the website to check daily LDP rates is as follows:

CRP CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

July 15th was the end of the Primary Nesting Season and contract management can now begin.  Kiowa County producers have been informed of the recommended activity and as was stated in the letter that was only a recommendation.  If a producer would like to complete a different activity, consultation with NRCS must take place.

There have been major changes in Colorado concerning the percentage of the land that must have an activity performed since the recommendation letters were mailed out.   It is important that producer that have not completed a Mid Contract Management contact either the FSA or NRCS office for further details.

PRICE LOSS COVERAGE PAYMENTS

Producers who elected the PLC – Price Loss Coverage during the election process 2 years ago are expected to receive 61 cents for wheat and 28 cents for oats; as those prices have been posted as final prices.  Corn and grain sorghum final prices will be announced end of September as the marketing year has not ended for those commodities.

The payments will be issued in October to eligible producers.  There will be a sequestration rate for those payments, the sequestration percentage has not been announced to date.  The rate for 2014 payments that were issued last October was 6.8%.
