To qualify, applicants must operate within the Colorado Natural Gas service territory and provide documentation of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Recipients will be announced in mid-June.
“Our employees live and work in the communities we serve, so supporting local nonprofits is personal for us,” Kurt Adams, president and chief operating officer for Summit Utilities, said. “Through Summit Cares, we’re proud to invest in organizations that are meeting real needs and helping our communities grow stronger.”
In 2023, Colorado Natural Gas adopted a multi-year giving plan that concluded in 2025. Over the three-year period, the company awarded $60,000 to four nonprofit organizations serving local communities. Beginning this year, the company is shifting to single-year grants.
Summit Cares prioritizes organizations focused on four areas:
- Basic Human Needs: supporting organizations that provide food, housing and other essentials.
- STEAM Education: investing in programs that empower students and the public through science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
- Community Enrichment: strengthening communities through cultural and recreational programs that foster belonging and vibrancy.
- Environmental Stewardship: encouraging conservation, energy efficiency and innovation to reduce environmental impact.
