This Sunday marked a noteworthy date in Kiowa County weather history. December 29, 2006, 28 inches of snow fell at Sheridan Lake in a 24-hour period. That is the record one-day snowfall for the county. This is also the record for a two-day snowfall.

The most snow to ever fall in Kiowa County in a three-day time span was 32 inches at Haswell November 5, 1946.

No snow in the forecast for next week as we go into a warming trend with drier weather.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are looking fair to partly cloudy, with highs in the 40s and lows in the teens.

Very quiet weather is expected, with mostly dry conditions and high temperatures in the 40s from January 4-10.
