- A one-day clinic for women and girls interested in the sports of fishing, archery, and shotgun shooting will be held at the Kiowa Creek Natural Area located just south of Eads.
- So far this year in Colorado, there have been confirmed rabies in 99 animals.
25 Years Ago - September 15, 2000
- There was a failed robbery attempt at the Colorado East Bank & Trust in La Junta. The potential thieves broke into the home of the bank president and told him to accompany them to the bank while holding his wife hostage at their home. When the attempt to open the safe failed the robbers fled.
40 Years Ago - September 13, 1985
- Colorado will have a onetime Tax Amnesty. Last chance for those who owe back taxes before penalties increase.
50 Years Ago - September 12, 1975
- The Kiowa County Hospital board voted to cut hospital employees’ salaries 10 percent from September through December as one of several recommendations from the auditor because of the current hospital financial situation.

- The primary election in Kiowa County was a very quiet affair in which no local contest voters seemed uninterested.
100 Years Ago - 1925
- Activities at the Kiowa County Fair included auto races, singing contest, shirt race, balloon ascension, and horseshoe games.
