- Cleveland Browns placekicker and punter Don Cockroft will be speaker at the Eads High School Athletic Banquet.
- Sheriff Larry Watts issued a plea to Kiowa County residents to help stop a rash of thefts of farm equipment.

- Sam Rehm says tractors may be the cause of the drought. If every farmer used mules and walking plows, sweat from the men and animals would evaporate and form raindrops
100 Years Ago - April 16, 1926
- This town is made up of a lot of slandering busybodies who have nothing to do but spread malicious lies about people. We are not talking about Eads but about the movie “The Slanderers,” to be at the La Cinema Saturday night.
- Gardening time is here and that all poultry must be kept shut up. Any owners of chickens running at large will be notified once. If a second notice is required the parties will be liable to a fine.
