  • East End Events-Sharon Scott: CDOT tells us our Hwy 96 road project from Sheridan Lake to west of Delmas Beaman will start shortly.

  • Eads Lions Club members are well-known throughout the county for their fair time beef raffle.
  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: Wheat planting is progressing throughout the county but hot dry weather is making planting difficult in many areas.

40 Years Ago - September 5, 1986

  • A new historical maker describing the Sand Creek Massacre has been erected by the Colorado Historical Society on Hwy 96 just east of Chivington.
  • Lauretta Blankenbaker, of Stratton was named International Woman of the Year by the International Flying Farmers

50 Years Ago - September 3, 1976

  • The Weisbrod Memorial County Hospital Board voted not to give Dr. Scott Geller staff privileges.

75 Years Ago - September 7, 1951

  • Dr. H.H. Stonaker A & M College, and Dr. Tanen of Allahbad, India, are interested in Kiowa County experiments with crossbred cattle, including Brafor, Brahorn, Brangus and Charbray

100 Years Ago - September 3, 1926

  • For the second time in 44 years, the Haswell baseball boys came out second best with the Eads team.
  • Unless some old railroad ties aren’t found soon, the barbecue at the fair will be called off.
  • Drilling for oil at Caddoa is held up due to the collapse or breaking apart of the derrick.
