  • The Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association board of directors approved a $20,000 donation for the town of Holly to help rebuild after the destructive March 28 tornado.
  • The opening weekend of the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site saw over 600 people visit the recently established site.
  • Despite four feet of snow on the level and little to no help from the federal government, southeast Colorado blizzard victims are at last getting help from the Operation: Blizzard Benefit Fundraiser put together by an number of organization in Colorado.

  • Eads Merchants women’s softball team kicks of its season with a Holly Jaycees sponsored six-team tournament.
  • Clyde Crow voiced optimism having a 40-unit motel to be completed in 120-150 days. The motel will be built east of the Schmitt’s Restaurant in Eads.

  • The Eads Lions Club is staging a big air show at the Smoky Hill Field west of Eads. In addition to the air show, there will be 25 different concessions and six exciting rides for the youngsters.

  • The hidden pot of gold has been found. On entering the old house, which was made on the side of a hill, and moving a partition, a first-class still was discovered in running order.
