  • Eads Town Council suspends Fred Cook with pay pending an investigation and hearing concerning the possible dismissal of Cook as Eads Chief of Police.

January 21, 1983

  • Saint Francis Hospital’s “Flight for Life” program designed to enhance and assist Weisbrod Memorial Hospital health care will be landing in Eads. Community members are encouraged to attend the demonstration on the capabilities of this new service.
  • For the second consecutive year, an exhibit of 10 heads of Hybrid Grain Sorghum in the division Sweepstakes for Joe Oswald at the Colorado Pure Seed Show.

January 19, 1973

  • The Kiowa County ASCS announced no reseal on 1972 wheat crop and has been deferred to a later date.
  • Clyde Crow reports his 40-unit motel in east Eads will open April 1.
  • Haswell Notes- Doris Forsyth: Rick Spady escaped serious injury when the horse he was riding fell over backwards with him. No broken bones but he was kept in the Eads Hospital overnight for observation.
