  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: Dry, Dry, DRY! That is the best explanation that can be given for our on-going period of drought.
  • There are more wild turkeys living in Colorado than at any time before. Nearly wiped out in U.S., wild turkeys have made an impressive comeback thanks to efforts of Colorado game and fish agencies and non-profit groups.

  • Due to weather, the Community Christmas Cantata is rescheduled.
  • Governor Bill Owens asked U.S. Secretary of Agriculture for agricultural disaster status for two more additional counties: Las Animas and Prowers.

  • William E. “Tommy” Rose was awarded the “Service to Agriculture” for his 37 years of service to the Colorado Farm Bureau, 21 of those years as president in Kiowa County.

  • Members of the Eads Consumers Supply Company Inc to consider purchase of Haswell Elevators.
  • Frank Risser, who homesteaded in the Prairie Queens area, willed $5,000 to the Kiowa County Hospital District.
  • Christmas Formal Dance to held in the Kit Carson School Gym. Music by Mell Mullins.

  • Phillip Pollreis of Kit Carson sold his Reserve Champion Angus at the 4-H Christmas sale at 38.5 cents per pound for the 1148-pound steer
