  • Daniel Weirich will be competing in the USA Track and Field Championships in Wichita, Kansas.
  • Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: The grasshoppers have moved in and are eating everything in sight. Only living thing happy to see them are my hens.
  • The Lamar Racing Club is preparing the race facility for a night of racing thrills and excitement at the Lamar Speedway.

  • Marvin Bishop, Weisbrod Memorial County Hospital & Nursing Home Administrator, announced he is resigning his position with the health care facility.

40 Years Ago - July 18, 1986

  • Little Britches Rodeo to be held at the Kiowa County Fairground weekend of July 25-27.

50 Years Ago - July 16, 1976

  • Limon water wells are producing less and less. For 2 to 3 hours last week, there just wasn’t any water in the town’s system.
  • A bull snake wriggled its way into the main power substation southeast part of Eads causing a ball of fire, a temporary power outage and interrupted the Eads water supply.

75 Years Ago - July 20, 1951

  • Mail service has been tied up the past week because of floods in the east. Sheridan Lake subscribers would receive same day, but with trains tied up in the east they were delayed longer.

100 Years Ago - July 16, 1926

  • One of the largest cattle sales was held at the Warner Ranch on Timber Lake 11 miles southeast of Arlington. 6,000 head of cattle sold, of which 3, 000 were public auction the rest private sale.
