Are you interested in volunteering for the National Park Service? If so, you’re in luck! Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site is now accepting applications. We are currently looking for volunteers to help in our interpretation and education program.

Sand Creek Massacre NHS has two parts to our park; we have a Visitor and Education Center in Eads and the actual historic site which is 23 miles from Eads. We have volunteer opportunities at both locations.

For the volunteers at the historic site, some duties would include greeting and educating visitors about the history of the Sand Creek Massacre, helping run our non-profit bookstore, and if interested, giving interpretive programs to the public.

For the volunteers in Eads, some duties would include talking with visitors about the site and helping run our non-profit bookstore. You can volunteer at one location or both locations, depending on the days and times you are available to volunteer.

If you would like to fill out a volunteer application, send us an email at sand_information@nps.gov or feel free to stop by and pick one up at 1301 Maine Street; Eads, CO 81036 (Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

For more information, please contact Sand Creek Massacre NHS at (719) 438-5916, visit our website at www.nps.gov/sand or our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SandCreekMassacreNHS.
